     What is CanSkate?

CanSkate is Skate Canada's premier learn-to-skate program, perfect for beginners of all ages. When you join CanSkate (Stages 1-6), you'll enjoy a program that emphasizes fun, participation, and the development of basic skills.

Our lessons are conducted in groups and led by NCCP-certified professional coaches, with support from trained Program Assistants. Skaters move at their own pace, with coaches using teaching aids, music, and a variety of activities to create an engaging and fun learning environment. CanSkate is the gateway to all other Skate Canada programs.

What Will You Learn?

In our CanSkate program, you'll develop a solid foundation of balance, control, and agility skills through six progressive stages. These essential skills are beneficial for hockey, ringette, speed skating, figure skating, and recreational skating. Our nationally tested and proven curriculum ensures quick and effective development of these core abilities.

You'll learn the six fundamental skating movements: forward skating, backward skating, stopping, turning, spinning, and jumping. As you advance through each stage, you'll earn badges and other incentives to celebrate your progress.
